Bong Mieu Gold Plant - Vietnam
Gold mining has been the predominant industry at Bong Mieu over many centuries. The last commercial mine was the Nui Kem underground mine, which historically operated from 1895 to 1942. Modern exploration began in the 1990s, with the delineation of resources in the Nui Kem mine, the Central open-pit mine and in another potential open-pit deposit to the northeast.
Underground Mine
Processing PlantThe Bong Mieu plant was first commissioned in 2006 to process ore from the central open-pit deposit. Advanced exploration continues on the Bong Mieu underground deposit and on the East open-pit deposit. Additional long-term exploration potential has also been recognized in other geological target zones throughout the property.
Gold Plant
- Commissioned in 2006 to treat the low grade Ho Gan ore body
- Nominal throughput 500 tonnes per day
- Utilizes gravity separation and flotation and incorporates an intensive leach reactor
Geology Highlights
- Gold mineralization occurs in quartz veins and intrusive-related skarn zones
- NI43-101 resources have been delineated (See Resource Estimates) within zones that remain open-ended along strike and at depth
- Bong Mieu occurs within a 40km long mineralization trend
- Bong Mieu has similar plate-tectonic and metallogenic settings as the Phuoc Son deposit to the NW and the Sepon Cu-Au mine in Laos
- The area is relatively unexplored, with large exploration upside
