We are Focused on
Mineral Rich Areas of Southeast Asia
Tectonic upheavals over eons have given rise to the rich copper and gold-yielding regions of Southeast Asia and Southwest China. Tectonic rearrangements between three oceanic plates, the Indian-Australian plate and the far eastern edges of Eurasian plate have created a vast swathe of mineralization that is still, for the most part, being explored.
Some sites are already yielding results. Take Sepon in Savannakhet province of Laos, where gold operations began in 2002. An upgrade in 2005 brought annual processing of the gold processing plant to 2.5 million tons per year. Olympus' Phuoc Son and Bong Mieu properties lie 200 km from Sepon, on the same geological structure known as the "Phuoc Son Suture"
Olympus in Vietnam
Olympus Pacific is active in an area of mineralization dating back 1000 years when the Cham people dug for gold. The company acquired the Bong Mieu property in 1997, and was granted exploration licenses at Phuoc Son property in 1999. Today the company is producing gold at its two processing plants. The Bong Mieu Gold Plant was built in 2005 and is currently producing gold from open-pit and underground mines. Our second processing facility, the Phuoc Son Gold Plant, was commissioned in June 2011 to process ore from its two underground mines. Consolidated gold production ending December 31, 2011 exceeded our 40,000 ounce forecast ( Actual numbers to be announced ).
Olympus in East Malaysia
Olympus acquired the 1,400 sq. km Bau Gold Project, as a result of the merger with Zedex Minerals Limited in 2009. Bau is located 30 km from the capital city Kuching, in East Malaysia which is located on the island of Borneo. Bau has a mining history dating back to the the 1840's and historical production of 3M oz.
Olympus in the Philippines
The Philippines are exceptionally well-endowed in metal deposits, particularly in copper-gold. The Capcapo Gold Field properties are located just to the north of the prolific Baguio-Mankayan Gold District which has a combined production, current reserves and resources in excess of 60 million ounces of gold.
